Leadership Profile

Karen Fullbright Lockett

Karen Fullbright Lockett

Regional Leadership Development Strategist

Karen learned at an early age the value of being able to meet new people and the importance of building relationships. Born in Germany to a military father and a German mother, she and her family traveled throughout Europe and the United States before settling in Houston, Texas, as part of the NASA community.  An honors graduate of the University of Houston, she began her career in secondary education in Pasadena Independent School District, the very schools she attended as a student.

With over thirty years of teaching and coaching experience in Houston, Pasadena and Deer Park school districts, Karen has had the privilege of teaching every grade on the secondary level in Language Arts, History, Speech Communications and coaching Physical Conditioning.  Her relationship with the Flippen Group began in 1998 while working on her graduate studies with the goal to leave secondary education and begin teaching at the university level full time.  However, after learning Flip’s teaching strategies and successfully implementing them into her classroom, Karen’s passion for teaching was rejuvenated.  She continued to teach in public schools for several more years. Karen was one of the first LeadWorthy® (formerly Teen Leadership) Course Leaders in the country.

Karen joined the Flippen Group in 2000. As a Leadership Development Senior Strategist, her responsibilities include training the Flippen Group processes, leadership profile coaching, and district consulting.  She believes, “It is the success of our leaders that directly impacts the success of our teachers and ultimately drives the performance of our students.”  Because of this she enjoys bringing out the best in others and helping them to grow both personally and professionally.

Karen resides in the beautiful Texas Hill Country town of Boerne with her husband, Johnny and puppy, Maggie. She has a son, Kirby, currently working in production with FOX Sports. In her spare time, Karen surrounds herself with lifelong friends, family, and enjoys planning weekend road trips with Johnny. Not a day goes by that she does not miss her students, but Karen’s desire for kids’ succeeding and fulfilling their potential is a mission that fuels her. <
