After teaching Teen Leadership to ninth and tenth-grade students and establishing a peer mentor program with eleventh and twelfth-grade students, John joined the Flippen Group as a summer Capturing Kids’ Hearts trainer. In 2013, he joined the Flippen Group as a leadership development strategist, training educators in the Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes and assisting teachers and administrators in establishing meaningful connections with their students and staff.

John lives in Fort Worth with his wife, Blanca, his two children, Gavin and Paloma, and the family’s three dogs. John enjoys coaching youth basketball and cheering on his children in their various sports activities. He credits his success in the classroom to the fact that his students knew that he cared about them as people first. He captured their minds by first capturing their hearts.
