Laura Rhodes began her journey in the education world in 1985 in Virginia, where she experienced rural and inner city school districts. Her public school opportunities continued in Colorado at the elementary level, and she served teachers and administrators as literacy facilitator and professional development coordinator before becoming a school administrator. During her tenure in Colorado, Laura was an instructor at the University of Colorado for the TIRP (Teachers in Residency Program) and her school community implemented Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes.

Laura completed her bachelor’s degree in child development with a minor in elementary education from Virginia Tech. She later received her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in reading, and also completed her principal licensure. Laura is a lifelong learner!

After 29 years in public education, Laura chose to retire and take on a new challenge with the Flippen Group. As Flip Flippen says, “How do you retire from purpose?” Each day is a new journey to share her passion for building relationships and serving others.

When Laura is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, and their two daughters, Jess, and Jill, and their families. Laura enjoys reading, being outdoors, power walking with family and friends, and watching baseball and college football. She can often be seen at a variety of major league baseball fields and cheering for the Virginia Tech Hokies!! Laura’s favorite happy place is the beach!
