Sean Dunphy, Ed.D.

Leadership Development Strategist

Sean Dunphy grew up on his family’s farm in Creston, Iowa and he has been with the Flippen Group for nearly five years. He began teaching and coaching in 1993 at the middle school and high school level and spent his first six years in the classroom. Sean became a high school principal in 1999 and brought Capturing Kids’ Hearts to his staff and students while serving as middle school principal in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He joined the Flippen Group as a leadership process strategist and leadership solutions advisor in June 2010.

Sean entered the education field after serving in the US Navy and quickly found his passion in developing students in areas beyond academic learning. His impact on his students as a coach, advisor, and a classroom agriculture and science teacher was incredible. When he left the agriculture classroom, his local Future Farmers of America program was rated as one of the top in the nation. Sean entered administration at a relatively young age and served three schools as principal. After completing his doctorate, Sean joined the Flippen Group with the intent of continuing to serve others with passion and purpose.

Sean is married to Deanne Dunphy, a fifth-grade teacher, and they reside in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They have two daughters, Kylee and Kara, and truly enjoy their busy lives attending their daughters’ activities, spending time with their large extended family, and being active members of their community.
