Leadership Profile

Debi Lokey

Debi Lokey

Leadership Development Executive

Debi Lokey can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to be a teacher. Teaching her stuffed animals in her Mesquite, Texas home was just the beginning of a rewarding career filled with love and success stories. After graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University, she went on to earn master’s degrees in both elementary education and educational administration from Texas A&M Commerce.

The twelve years Debi served as an elementary and middle school teacher provided her with a great number of leadership experiences. She taught children in several Texas districts and enjoyed coaching middle school girls’ volleyball and basketball teams. In 2000, although hesitant to leave the classroom, Debi was persuaded to accept the role of campus principal. She became passionate about leading teachers and creating a culture that leads to greater student performance and happiness. She served two years as a middle school principal and six years as an elementary school principal, modeling her leadership after Aristotle’s quote, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

Debi joined Flippen Group in 2008 and uses her previous leadership experiences to help teachers and administrators across the country create positive school cultures. As a leadership development executive, her responsibilities include coaching teachers and administrators, consulting, internal personnel development, and product development. She is passionate about serving others in a manner that motivates them to want to grow their own capacity to serve others.

Debi is married to her college sweetheart, Eric, who is the Assistant Athletic Director for Denton ISD. They have three sons, Derek, Taylor, and Tyler, three beautiful daughters-in-law, and four “amazing” grandchildren. Debi enjoys spending time with family, watching sporting events, being outdoors, fishing, and boating.
