Flippen Group Clients Build First U.S. Solar City

Something completely new is happening in Florida this year, thanks to the foresight of three Flippen Group clients. Kitson & Partners, Florida Power & Light, and M3 Capital Partners have teamed up to build our nation’s first-ever solar-powered city. The planned development will eventually be home to approximately 50,000 residents.

These three Flippen clients share our belief that work should be a mission and that people are our most precious resource. Babcock Ranch is almost 18,000 acres in Charlotte County, Florida, surrounded by the 73,000-acre Babcock Ranch Preserve and the 65,000-acre Cecil M. Webb Wildlife Management Area. It will be the perfect balance of technology and nature, with preservation and inclusion of the surrounding habitats. With 450 acres of solar panels, the country’s first solar-powered city will be operational by mid-2017 and have its own school system, medical system, and a planned community of 19,500 residences. “Babcock Ranch will exemplify what it means to be a town of the future, offering residents a highly unique balance of the most technologically advanced infrastructure and amenities, with ready access to a rich natural environment and a true sense of community,” said Kitson & Partners Chairman and CEO Syd Kitson.
