Leadership Development Strategist

From a very young age, Alma knew she wanted to make a difference. As a first-generation college graduate, she experienced firsthand the lasting impact great teachers can have on young lives. It has been her heart’s calling to spend her life investing in the potential of others.

Alma’s 29 years in public education started as a middle school language arts teacher in Texas. Working closely with schools on dropout prevention strategies and increasing parent/community involvement sparked her passion to become a campus principal. She wanted to create a campus culture where all students and staff believed they were valued and supported. She was named a National Distinguished Principal Finalist for Texas in 2013 and then again in 2014. She also worked as a district administrator, serving as human resource director and later as executive director of professional learning for teachers, administrators and other professionals in the district. Alma also created and led the New Teacher Induction Program and the Aspiring Leaders Academy, and over 800 professionals were trained in Capturing Kids’ Hearts under her leadership with the school district.

Alma lives in Round Rock, Texas with her husband, Mike, and their miniature Schnauzer, Olive. They enjoy hiking, traveling, and adventures of all kinds. She has two grown daughters, Tamara and Marisa, whom she lovingly refers to as “my greatest accomplishments.” “Alma is passionate about serving others and strives to live her life to inspire caring and compassion in others.
