Leadership Profile

Caren Hoffmann

Caren Hoffmann

Leadership Development Advisor

Caren Hoffmann is a lifelong resident of the small town of Alvin, Texas and received her kindergarten through twelfth-grade education through the Alvin ISD. After high school graduation, she attended Alvin Community College before transferring to the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 1999 and completing her bachelor’s degree.

Caren has spent the past sixteen years pursuing her passion for children and teaching as an educator for Alvin ISD at both elementary and secondary levels. While teaching, she has worn many different leadership hats: mentor to new teachers and student teachers; team leader; member of the District Education Initiative Committee, the Design Team, and the Discipline Committee; spelling bee coordinator; cheer coach; and co-sponsor of the student council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In 2008 she was a finalist for the district’s Teacher of the Year.

Caren decided to attend a Capturing Kids’ Hearts training on her own volition, seeing her passion for teaching and affecting the lives of her students, colleagues, and community soar to new heights. She felt the authenticity and relevance of how the training changes the lives of not only the children, but her fellow educators, administrators, and ultimately the whole climate of a school. She has spent the past several years implementing Capturing Kids’ Hearts in her classes, which led her to pursue training in the summers for the Flippen Group.

Throughout her teaching career, Caren has seen myriad changes in trends, philosophies, and even curriculum. However, the philosophy of Capturing Kids’ Hearts has continued to be relevant and impactful on both her teaching and career. She acknowledges that the people she encounters each day are often fighting an unseen battle; she strives to be a positive impact in their lives and to empower students to reach their full potential academically, emotionally, and socially. Caren believes that she not only teaches reading and writing but molds a new generation of ethical and compassionate leaders.
