Desirae Ortiz has a passion for teaching students of all ages. Originally from Cadillac, MI, she has worked with elementary and secondary students, as well as coached at the collegiate level.
As a volleyball coach and P.E. teacher, Desirae enjoys being active and helping her students/volleyball players to be their best and find confidence in themselves no matter what level they are playing at.
Because of her Capturing Kids’ Hearts training many years ago, Desirae added more tools to her teaching that benefited her students. The process helped each build the confidence needed to become respected young people and work to be the best version of them they can be. While teaching, Desirae had the opportunity to lead the LeadWorthy The Course, a character education class that is a part of the Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes. She was also a Capturing Kids’ Hearts Process Champion, mentoring other teachers in the process in her building and district.
Desirae married her husband Jesse, a collegiate volleyball coach, in 2018 and they like to fill their time with being active, traveling, and enjoying time with family. Desirae and Jesse live in East Lansing MI.
