For Mark Hatchell teaching is the family business—his father, mother and brother have all been teachers, coaches and in administration. After seven years of teaching and coaching, Mark went on to a number of administrative positions across Colorado. He served as a campus leader and principal, executive director, assistant superintendent and then superintendent of two school districts.
His districts received numerous awards for student academic performance and growth. He is most proud of the district’s having created a number of innovative programs such as: Home School Academy, Academic Arts Academy, Chinese Exchange Program, Online and Blended Learning schools, World Language Immersion schools, Cybersecurity and Coding programs. Mark spent 37 years in education and is recognized as one of the longest-serving superintendents (18 years) in Colorado.
Mark and his wife Cathy live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They have five children including two sets of twins. Mark enjoys spending time with his family, watching sporting events, and playing golf.
