Leadership Profile

Megan Spencer

Megan Spencer

Leadership Development Advisor

Megan started teaching others skills at an early age, coaching children to swim when she was only sixteen. Her love of learning and helping kids overcome the challenges that came with unique needs led her to pursue a master’s degree in Inclusive Education. She then added to her skills by working at an autism treatment center.

In 2005 she began teaching as a special education teacher at an elementary school in Connecticut. With her dual certification and experience in Special Education and ABA therapy, she was needed at various grade levels to address the specific needs of the student population. Since 2010 Megan has built a strong home base at Thompson Brook School where she teaches 5th grade.

In 2014 Megan attended her first Capturing Kids’ Hearts training.  In that moment, she realized these intuitive and innovative ideas were needed not only in her classroom with her students but also in her professional and personal relationships. Upon returning to the school she immediately began implementing the CKH model. She enjoys impacting and connecting with students daily and building stronger relationships with colleagues. In 2015 Megan had the opportunity to become a Process Champion™ for her district and assist with the systemic implementation of the strategies.

Megan is married to her husband Marc and they have two sons: Aidan and their angel, Evan. In her spare time you can find her cheering for them at the ball field, getting cozy with her boys and puppies, or reading a good book. As long as it’s with family and friends, she’s complete.
