Mitchell Sorensen

Leadership Development Strategist

Whether being coached or coaching others, Mitch Sorensen believes that his success with kids can be attributed to having positive relationships, enthusiasm and being a good role model. He has coached numerous sports over his career, including basketball, football, and track. His passion for coaching his Special Olympics teams spans more than 25 years. Mitch knows that as educators, we need to keep our standards high and as a result the students will rise to the level of expectations.

While in the service, he learned the true value of motivation, self-discipline, and setting the bar high for self and others. Mitch is proud to have served his country with the Iowa Army National Guard for six years. He was trained in Avionics at Fort Gordon, GA. He then worked as a radio repairman on numerous types of Army aircraft.

Mitch has also been a professional disc jockey since 2004. He loves interacting with the crowds and pumping up the party. Mitch has been married to his wonderful wife Debra for 30 years. They have two beautiful daughters, Chelsea and Angela, and an amazing grandson, Joel. To round out the family, they have their spunky dog, Bridget. They are a very close-knit family who love spending time together whenever possible. They love barbecues, taking trips together, and family board game nights.
