The Beach Boys had it right…“I wish they all could be California girls!” Being born into a family of educators, Shawna Beckerman always knew that she’d be a teacher too. To her family, education was one of the most rewarding and challenging careers in its efforts to lead youths. Shawna knew this was meant to be.
Shawna has been in education for over ten years, serving students from ages three through seniors in high school. Her passion has always been history and learning all she can. The dream job opportunity came true with the invitation to teach eighth grade United States History at the same middle school she attended. Shawna felt her passions meld together and could not wait to pass on to another generation what she was given within those walls. In 2015, Shawna was introduced to Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes; her teaching and life were forever changed. She emerged into the teacher she always dreamed of being. Having a plan and tools enabled her to empower others.
When Shawna isn’t working, you’ll find her with her family. She and her husband Jeff (who is also a teacher at the same middle school) love spending family time with their two small boys, Rex and Asher. No surprise that this California girl’s happy place is at the beach or finding a new adventure and trying new foods!
