Leadership Profile
Tina Tompkins
Tina Tompkins
Leadership Development Advisor
Born in Maryland, the daughter of a career US Army master sergeant and a loving stay-at-home mother, Tina has lived in Texas most of her life. She graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a bachelor’s degree in education and then completed her master’s of education, specializing in special education. She is most proud of completing the principal and superintendent certification programs, as well.
Tina’s public school experience includes thirty-five years in various school districts as a special education teacher, diagnostician, and finally, as special education director for Mabank ISD and Bryan ISD. She has served as an advisor to schools and has presented to educators, parents, and school boards on topics related to special education. She has also served on Texas Education Agency committees for both accountability and special education due process procedures. She sees herself as an advocate for all children, especially those with special needs.
While working at Bryan ISD, a Capturing Kid’s Hearts district, Tina witnessed the positive impact the process had on students, teachers, and administrators. After hearing Flip Flippen present at the district’s Convocation, along with the impact the process had on her life, she knew she wanted to be part of that team. She is now enjoying her “non-retirement” with the Flippen Group.
Tina loves spending time with her family. Her husband of forty-one years, Clay, is a retired school superintendent. Their two children, Lacy, and Matt have given them five precious grandchildren, which are the light of their lives
