Leadership Profile
Wendy Trent
Wendy Trent
Leadership Development Strategist
Wendy was born and raised in Northern California, in the small town of Redding. She attended Chico State University and graduated in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies. Instead of going on to enroll in the student teaching program, she accepted a position with Simpson Paper Company in their customer service department. A promotion to outside sales in 1992 meant a move to Atlanta, Georgia, where she covered the territories of Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Wendy later took a job with Wausau Paper Company and moved back to the West Coast.
After years of traveling, she returned to Redding, completed her teaching credential from Simpson University, and began teaching in the Redding School District. For the last several years, Wendy has taught intervention students reading skills, language arts, and history. She enjoys helping kids learn to read and improve their reading, impacting their success in all areas of their lives. She reminds her students that their hard work will pay off because if someone can’t read, life’s journey will always be a struggle for them. Capturing Kids’ Hearts was a natural fit for her and made her relationships with her students, family, and staff even stronger.
Wendy’s biggest accomplishment so far is her beautiful daughter, Lily Grace, born in 2001 after Wendy was told she could not have children. Lily is truly Wendy’s miracle baby and the light of her life. She is a passionate, sensitive young lady, loves photography and film editing, and would like to pursue a career in these fields. Each summer, they love to visit Disneyland and Southern California. Disneyland and the beach are definitely their happy places, and Wendy plans to retire to the San Diego area so she can enjoy the beach every day.
Wendy feels blessed to be part of the Flippen Group family. She loves the opportunity to bring the Capturing Kids’ Hearts process to other educators and hopes that once they experience the process, it will impact their lives as it has hers!
